Launch Ramp at the Black River Marina Site

Black Lake Association has just received notice:

We are writing you this morning to make you aware that after a thorough assessment and underwater evaluation of the existing launch ramp at the Black River Marina site, it has been determined that the ramp will be closed by approximately noon today, June 11th until further notice. The ramp is considerably out of compliance and well below the minimum DNR Parks and Recreation Division public launch ramp standards to be considered a functional and safe boating access site launch ramp. A formal DNR press release is being prepared and will be issued very soon.

As you are aware Onaway State Park boating access site is one alternative public launch with the Black Lake State Campground boating access site as another alternative.

Our agency is working diligently to evaluate alternatives that may be available to reopen the launch in a timely fashion. A date to reopen the launch ramp has not been established and will be determined as we gather more information, identify permitting agency options, review and approval timelines.

We will update you as the situation changes and when we receive a date that it will reopen.

Thank you,

Keith Cheli, Landscape Architect
Regional Field Planner
MDNR Parks and Recreation Division
