Protecting and Preserving Black Lake and the Surrounding Watershed

Black Lake Association 

Located in Cheboygan and Presque Isle counties in northern Michigan, Black Lake has a surface area of 10,130 acres. It is the seventh largest inland lake in Michigan. The largest body of water in the Black River watershed, it drains through the Lower Black and Cheboygan rivers into Lake Huron. Black Lake is a summer destination for many families from the suburban Detroit area and from other nearby states as well as residents of the neighboring town of Onaway.

2019 Meeting Dates:

May 13th, June 10th, July 8th, Aug 12th, Sept. 9th, and Oct.14th.

August 12:  A representative from the Black River Limited Partnership that owns Tower, Kleber and Alverno Dams will present a status update on lake level management.

The BLA depends entirely on the efforts of members. Beach representatives, board members and work teams are all volunteers. Join them today.

Help Keep Black Lake Clean

Our lake is priceless. Please help keep it by eliminating soaps, fertilizers and other chemicals near the lake. Also be sure to properly maintain your septic system.


The Black Lake Association has no relationship to the Black Lake Preservation Society, nor does it endorse, recommend, work with or partner with it.  We are a complete and separate 501(c)3 entity.
